Even as Brian Lara plans to throw his name into the IPL 4 player auctions, there could be a problem before the players eventually learn the fate of who it is they will be playing for in IPL 4 2011.

The former West Indies captain is coming out of retirement only for the IPL ambition. However, the wait will get longer if the BCCI and the two terminated IPL franchisees, the Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab, decided to lengthen their battles in the court.
The High Court has extended the IPL 4 player retention deadline from 6th of December to the 8th. However, it is understood with the BCCI taking the Royals to the court after the arbitrator's initial verdict tilted in the favour of the Rajasthan Royals, the wait for the IPL 4 auctions, delayed several times already over uncertainty over the Kochi franchisee and now the termination issues, could be longer than the January deadline.
The Rajasthan Royals are not willing to wash their hands off the matter and the arbitrator's initial observation is only going to strengthen their resolve. The BCCI's indulgence of the two cases even though they were categorical about the termination has turned into a new headache as far as the IPL 4 season is concerned.
With the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 preceding the IPL 4, the BCCI will be in a race against time to resolve the two cases and get on with the business of playing buying for the forthcoming season.
