The attempts of the IPL governing council to add more to its pocket while raising the business through the IPL 3 auction deadlock fell flat as the franchisees expressed their firm disapproval of the same.

As franchiees step into tomorrow's auctions with a limited budget of $750,000, the IPL wanted to find a way to defuse a situation where two franchisees may end up bidding the full amount of their resources on a particular play.
The IPL governing council came up with the silent tiebreaker, which meant that if such a situation did arise, the two franchisees would then bid higher than the imposed sanction but the additional money then would accrue to the IPL and not the player upon whom the bid was placed. The idea did not pan well with the franchisees though.
