New Zealand were set a big blow ahead of the Test series against India when their strapping all rounder pulled up with an Achilles tendon. It now appears that Jacob Oram has far from recovered and could well miss the forthcoming IPL in South Africa.

Oram told the media he found it really hard to simply sit around and know he could not make it to playing the Test series against India. Apparently, the Central Districts player did try to rush his recovery to make himself available for the Test series but suffered further pain and advised more rest.
Jacob Oram is setting his goals now on the IPL to be staged in South Africa this year instead of India and the World Twenty20 thereafter to be held in the UK. He feels he will be in a better position to confirm that after playing a first class domestic tournament in early April.
At the same time, he expressed confidence that he would not experience pain like he did earlier and would therefore, be able to play for Chennai Super Kings. After missing his services after the first few games in the first edition of the IPL due to his national commitments, both Oram and Chennai Super Kings, not to mention the fans, would want to extend his services in the second season.
