Finally, the curtain over the Bob Woolmer death episode is down. The Jamaican police have admitted that former Pakistan cricket coach died a natural death. But, many eyebrows are raised whether the verdict is really true?

After nearly three months of investigation into the Woolmer murder mystery, the investigating agencies gave their final verdict that he died of natural causes. For nearly three months, the clock kept swinging to and fro sometimes pointing to a murder, at other times to natural death. But, the final verdict went for a natural death. The complete U-turn by the investigating agencies is not easily digestible to anyone either related to the game or not.

The day Pakistan lost embarrassingly to lowly Ireland was Woolmer’s last day. No one knows what happened all of a sudden? Was the defeat so hard to digest for the South African? Was there any other reason behind his death? How could as strong a man as Bob die like this? These are few questions that have rocked the cricketing world ever since Woolmer expired. But, who will give the answers? It is the duty of the police and the investigating agencies to examine each and everything to plug the loopholes and sew every single evidence. But, in this case like many others, police have chocked and changed its statements. Was it under any pressure? Who knows?

It is surprising as to why the police initially said that Woolmer was murdered? Why did they suspect Pakistan cricket team for the sudden death of their coach, if it was a natural death? Why the investigating team comprising of Jamaican police and members of Scotland Yard declare that they were 100% sure that the coach was assassinated? What about the video camera that was told caught the glimpses of Woolmer’s assassin? Moreover, if they had no clue in the murder mystery, then why was the slain coach’s body subject to post-mortem again and again? Why was he not let to rest in peace earlier? Why was his body sent to his family hometown after a series of investigations?

No doubt, the investigating agencies have cooked up something, but to the world they declared heart attack as the reason why Woolmer died. Mark Shields, who led what then became one of the biggest manhunts in Jamaican history and was more than 100% sure about the murder, now admits that he had been wrong but maintains that he and his men had carried out a thorough and professional inquiry.

Mr Shield’s trying to lay the blame on Jamaican pathologist Dr. Seshaiah, said his declaration that Woolmer died from poison and asphyxia emerged from the doctor’s report. Despite gathering so much humiliation, Shields will not resign - nor will the pathologist who incorrectly announced that Woolmer had been murdered.

Imran Khan has asked the Pakistan cricket board to sue Jamaican police for the disgrace heaped on the Pakistan team during initial investigation.

The investigating agencies have finally put an end to the murder case. But, is it really the end of Woolmer murder case? Did Woolmer get a fair trial?
