The air is heavy and it was quite natural that the mind would wander back in time. On the eve of the Champions League Twenty20 2010 in South Africa, Jonty Rhodes got nostalgic about two former associates in the game, both of whom lost their lives under tragic circumstances.

The Mumbai Indians fielding coach spoke fondly of his former captain and coach, Hansie Cronje and Bob Woolmer, speaking of them as "passionate lovers of the game" who would be proud to see cricket evolve. He also stated that they were "positive" actors in the game, who contributed tremendously to the game.
He referred to Hansie as a "friend who he deeply missed." He also stated that while Hansie committed a huge mistake for which he received punishment, he also felt that Hansie helped shape the South African team from "good to great".
