The Commonwealth Organizing Committee Chairman, Suresh Kalmadi, has sought the help of the Sports Ministry to make the BCCI reschedule its India Australia Series.

With the dates clashing between the Australian tour to India and the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games, Suresh Kalmadi, has asked the Sports Minister, M.S. Gill, to intervene on his behalf to convince the BCCI to reconsider the dates.
In a statement released to the press, Kalmadi is said to have told Gill, "I write to seek your good offices to try and convince the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to reschedule the two Test matches between India and Australia so that it do not clash with the Commonwealth Games."
There is considerable worry that such a high profile cricket series could wean attention away from the presitigious games. But Kalmadi is believed to have told Sharad Pawar of those apprehensions much before the schedule was released.
In view of the BCCI's unflinching decision not to send a men's or women's cricket team for the Asian Games, one wonders whether the BCCI will even relent to this request. Besides, there is also the matter of having to rediscuss the schedule according with Cricket Australia.
