The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has different ideas to the team management in Australia. And the decision to play Kamran Akmal appears split down the middle, with the keeper himself keen to retain himself.

Akmal has been under fire since Pakistan lost the second Test at Sydney in horrific fashion. With a scapegoat to be found, Akmal seemed the easiest pick, given his deteriorating wicket keeping skills, and his glaring dropped catches have not left much to the imagination as to who could well not make it to the team at Hobart for the third Test.
However, Akmal himself may get to vote in the team selection being the vice captain. But that he has the possible backing of Mohammad Yousuf, the Pakistan captain, gives Akmal the confidence to think that Pakistan will not dare play him as a batsman alone but rather his gloves will be glued to his hands at Hobart and not Safraz Ahmed, who was picked by the PCB to replace Akmal for the Hobart Test.
Forget strategy, it is all about Akmal - will he, won't he - that has occupied predominance ahead of the third Test.
