South Africa's batting consultant, former South African captain, Kepler Wessels, believes South Africa still have a job to do in the second Test of the India South Africa series at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, one that would want to do well from recent past history.

Wessels spoke about how the South African plan to take quick wickets and restrict India's lead did not pan out and that South Africa will have to do something that they have done in recent months on the road to being the best.
V.V.S Laxman believes that the pitch is on its way down, and will take spin and that will make India's job to pick the ten wickets in South Africa's innings easier. But Wessels believes the pitch is still in reasonable condition and the best thing South Africa could do from here on was play their natural game, not go totally on the defensive but rather look to build partnership and make runs while biding time in the belief that they have done this in the recent past and it is not beyond them, even though it will be tough.
Wessels admitted that South Africa found themselves in this rather difficult position because of their own making when they squandered opportunities batting first after tea on the first day and by dropping catches of the Indian cricketers, four of whom managed centuries to put South Africa under tremendous pressure.
The current South African captain, Graeme Smith, has been instrumental in those tough situations. And it will be a trickier proposition for the man who has not made too many runs on this tour's two innings and now has to with a broken finger.
