Even as the likes of former Karnataka and India cricketers, Javagal Srinath and Anil Kumble worry for the future of Karnataka Cricket, Karnataka's own IPL version has raked in the initial moolah.

The KPL (Karnataka Premier League) will now usher in domestic cricket of another kind. Raking in 7.3 million dollars by way of franchisees alone, it is showing encouraging signs. Brigade Enterprises have bought Bangalore Urban for a record 7.2 crore rupees to show that there are sponsors and takers for this format.
But former cricketers have concerns in that they fear that along with boost domestic cricketers, it could also attract the obvious pitfalls predictably associated when bringing in the commercial aspect of hosting such an event.
Bangalore Urban - Brigade Enterprises, Rs 7.2 cr
Bangalore Rural - Melmont Constructions, Rs. 5.55 cr
Mysore - Girish Auto, Rs 3.25 cr
Belgaum - Subash Enterprises, Rs 3.81 cr
Shimoga - Jayaprakash Hegde, Rs 3.25 cr
Mangalore - Fiza Developers, Rs 4.23 cr
Hubli-Dharwad - Shiv Shankarappa, Rs 3.77 cr
Gulbarga - Vivid Creations and Nandish Reddy Group, Rs 3.5 cr
