Anil Kumble feels that priorities may have skewed unwittingly where keeping one's place in the Indian Premier League becomes more imperative than worrying about their spot in the Indian team.

The former Indian captain, who captains the Royal Challengers Bangalore, reflects on team India's loss in the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 and believes that the IPL may have somehow intensified the pressure on the Indian cricketers but in the reverse order.
Kumble stating that playing for the franchises put the Indian cricketers on greater alert knowing the pressure and cynosure of the owners whereas returning to the Indian team felt like being in a "comfort zone" where they took it easy.
Kumble also alluded to a statement made by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Indian captain, after the match against the West Indies (mentioned in the article Mahendra Singh Dhoni Blames IPL, IPL Parties, for Debacle; Can He Afford to Grin and Bear? published on www.crickblog.com) stating that India were clearly not in the positive frame of mind when they did not even stop to consider their options after losing to the West Indies.
