Does one even need to ask? Even as the BCCI versus Lalit Modi war does not appear to an immediate end, every crisis within Indian cricket is subject to interpretation. And the former IPL chairman and commissioner is not shying away from using the opportunity to supposedly strengthen his own case.

Modi was back on Twitter and this time he tried adding fuel to fire to not one story but two. Amongst those on the former IPL chairman's radar were the Shane Warne's pitch spat against the Chennai Super Kings and the match fixing story in the sports magazine, Sports Illustrated India.
Modi was noticed prodding the allegations made by Warne about the decision of the pitch to use for the Chennai Super Kings versus the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, a match that the former won by a heavy margin. The Rajasthan Royals captain had to be told off by the BCCI. But Modi went onto to suggest that indeed there was foul play with regard to the pitch selection.
It is no hidden matter that Modi's battles have been head on against N. Srinivasan, who is not only part of the BCCI, but also owner of the Chennai Super Kings.
Modi, who denied allegations of match fixing during the IPL 2 season while he still headed the domestic Twenty20 tournament, has now made an aboutturn, even attesting that some of the incidents published by the magazine held the truth, perhaps hinting further at malice within the administration that has led to it.
Either way, Modi is keeping himself on a proxy role, overseeing all that happens in the cricket world. Only the title of czar is currently not his to claim.
