It may appear to have come belatedly but the honours for Sachin Tendulkar from Brian Charles Lara were loaded indeed.

Stating that comparisons across era held no water, Lara commended Sachin Tendulkar on his double hundred in ODIs against South Africa in Gwalior, “The feat is an outstanding achievement. He is the first person to score a double hundred in ODIs. Sachin still has the strength, character, and physical fitness to achieve the feat.” He also added that Tendulkar is showing the ability to survive at least till the 2011 ICC World Cup.
He, however, stated that modern game could produce cricketers who could threaten that record soon, “Records are meant to be broken and there are many young talented cricketers who are capable of breaking this record.”
Lara also stated he would like Tendulkar to break his record of 400 runs in a single Test innings, referring to his achievement in Antigua against England in 2004, “I'd be happy if Sachin breaks my record of 400 not out in Test cricket.”
Lara had one quip thought, “If I had a son I would have wanted him to play like Sachin.”
What could be a better compliment than that?
