Well, even as the Indian team's series victory in the ODIs over hosts New Zealand is being done to death, there is disession in that a former New Zealand captain feels the Indian team let themselves down in the final one day international.

While debates abound about the best one day Indian team, Martin Crowe has slammed India's decision to send Rohit Sharma, who was only playing because of the injury to Sachin Tendulkar, ahead of skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh as the reason why India failed to push on in the final ODI. He felt that Sharma, inexperienced and out of form, prevented Virender Sehwag from taking more of the strike and forced Sehwag to give his wicket away cheaply. Crowe was unimpressed with Rohit Sharma, who only last year earned praises from former Australian cricketers, "While Rohit Sharma tried very hard, he has got technically some very serious flaws with his head position. And he does not look to be really good enough to be at this level."
He was also critical of the fact that the Indian team allowed themselves into a losing position when they should not have relaxed after pocketing the series in the previous match. He felt that by surrendering without a fight, the Indians have allowed the New Zealand team to believe they can win and allow Daniel Vettori the option to pep his team further as the aim would now be to prepare helpful pitches as the New Zealand bowlers saw what happened when the ball swung and bounced.
His words to the effect were, "They (team India) just looked to be sub-consciously very lazy about the whole thing." Well, there is no room for imperfections, one would imagine, especially when still half the battle lies ahead!
