Former Australian cricketer, Damien Martyn, has apparently told the Australian cricket board that it should not have a role telling retired or non- contracted players whether they should or should not play in the IPL.

Martyn was bought in the IPL 3 auctions by the Rajasthan Royals, whose captain is his former team mate, Shane Warne. Martyn stated he or his other former team mates including Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden would not have gone ahead with their decision if they did not feel safe.
Martyn also stated that Cricket Australia (CA) should not have a guideline for players who are no longer contracted to the board.
Martyn stated that conditions in India were no worse than anywhere in the world, stating that Australia had played the Ashes "even when there were bombs going off."
