The India v Pakistan match at the Asia Cup 2010 brought out plenty of angst and anger. But the match referee has chosen to view the flare ups in the context and give the players a clean chit.

Match referee, Andy Pycroft, chose to play down the flare up between Gautam Gambir and Kamran Akmal and also, between Harbhajan Singh and Shoaib Akhtar calling it "in the heat of the moment incident."
The two captains chose not to get unnecessarily worked up about the situation either. The Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, spoke at the press conference, ""If you ask me if it (sledging) happened or not, I would say let us leave it. India-Pakistan games are always intense with both wanting to win and so there is bound to be some spark in the middle."
Shahid Afridi, the Pakistan captain, also made light of the on field confrontation and verbal exchange, "They ( Harbhajan Singh and Shoaib Akhtar ) are friends with each other and love each other. I think that brought them so close together."
The match referee perhaps decided it would pointless to add salt to the wounds.
