It is hard to imagine how much of what the Pakistan player agent - bookie has to say can be believed when the name dropping continues in bizarre fashion in the ongoing court case over charges of corruption brought up against three Pakistan cricketers deemed guilty by the ICC of spot fixing.

Mazhar Mahmood, the undercover journalist for the News of the World who exposed the spot fixing during Pakistan's tour of England last year, has thrown in a twist to the court proceedings into the spot fixing trial when he spoke of the Pakistan player agent cum bookie, Mazhar Majeed, boasting of links with several international cricketers including the two Indian cricketers, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh.

What is interesting to note is that the name dropping did not stop there. If anything, some of the names allegedly mentioned by Majeed as part of being on his speed dial include former England cricketer, Geoffrey Boycott, Australian cricketers, Ricky Ponting, Brett Lee and Nathan Bracken but also, includes the likes of the tennis great, Roger Federer, and the Bollywood actor, Brad Pitt.

While the mention of the two Indian cricketers has raised furore all round with the two Indian cricketers said to be furious about their name being dragged, it would seem that somewhere down the line, if Majeed did involve himself in this kind of name dropping, he would haev certainly diluted his own reputation because while mentioning some of the prominent names from cricket would have perhaps meant to enhance his reputation as a bookie with extensive contacts, it is hard to imagine whether his word could even have been taken at face value unless the context is understood in which the likes of Pitt or Federer are mentioned. Until that connection is established, it would be tough to assess the truth behind the names that have been dragged into the match fixing saga.
