Kevin Pietersen sunk the hosts further with the final wicket of the day. However, the issue was prolonged simply because the Australian vice captain decided not to walk.

Michael Clarke was caught at short leg by Alastair Cook after an inspired moment made Kevin Pietersen bowl the final over of the fourth day at the Adelaide Oval in the ongoing second Test of the Ashes 2010.

However, Clarke refused to budge, forcing England to use the Umpire Decision Review System after the ground umpire did not give Clarke out. The UDRS, however, showed that Clarke had edged the bat.

And Clarke himself admitted the folly of his ways on Twitter,

Just want to apologise for not walking off the ground tonight when I hit the ball. I was just so disappointed, my emotions got best of me.

Australia are in a difficult position and it is perhaps what forced Clarke to err in judgement, particularly when he was batting on eighty in a crucial partnership for Australia with a day remaining.
