The stand in Australian captain who has copped plenty of flak over his poor form continued his batting vein from the last vein as he helped Australia overhaul the highest total by Australia in Australia so far by successfully chasing down 334 for victory.

England built their innings around the second wicket partnership between the England captain, Andrew Strauss, and Jonathan Trott who has been talking of playing a greater role himself. His aggressive self was on the agenda as he laid the platform for a fine ODI century, even as Strauss brought home a half century, sixty-three runs to be precise. Trott's 136 from 126 balls was the cornerstone of England's assault after England had already lost the series in the last match.

Ian Bell kicked up a cameo of forty-five runs for the action to stretch Australia to the limit. However, on the night, Clarke continued on his resurrection, this time with a match winning eighty-two runs from seventy balls to follow up on the foundation laid down by Shane Watson who made a half century and Callum Ferguson who missed his by four runs.

What was interesting was that Mitchell Johnson found himself in an elevated position, batting ahead of Clarke at no.4, clearly in an addition to shake things up. And it worked rather well for Australia as Johnson brought up fifty-seven runs, including two sixes to add to the flamboyant effort. With David Hussey bringing up the rear, Australia won the match by two wickets and four balls to spare.
