Michael Hussey Included in Australia's ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Squad for Bollinger

The suspense did not take as long. One weekend, Michael Hussey was held back from competing in Australia's domestic cricket competition. The next weekend he plays and he wins a recall back to the team, as replacement of course, for Doug Bollinger in Australia's ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 squad.

Michael Hussey's determination seems to have helped his fortunes as Doug Bollinger's injury has paved the way for an additional Australian cricketer to join the team. And his brother David Hussey's wishes and prayers may have been answered as well.

While it would have been tempting for Ricky Ponting and his team to opt for an additional fast bowler, the temptation to bolster the middle order batting line was obviously more overwhelming given the fact that Hussey will add that invaluable experience to the squad. Besides, Australia is relatively secure for the moment knowing that Brett Lee is holding up rather well under pressure, Mitchell Johnson has cover in Shaun Tait as the trio form Australia's bowling strength in the tournament they are looking to win for the fourth time on the trot.

Although Australia have had a reasonably easy ride thus far in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, and did not get a chance to test their strength against Sri Lanka, the addition of a fit Michael Hussey would only add weight to their batting and given that some of the matches have not been safe for teams setting totals of 300 or thereabouts, Australia would certainly not mind having both the Husseys in their team, and in particular the feisty older one, who has defied the doctors and skeptics about his readiness for the tournament.
