The IPL Chairman and Commissioner was quick to deny that the IPL was taking on the BCCI head on, on the financial front. Modi stated, "IPL has a revenue of only Rs six crore a day whereas BCCI earns a revenue of Rs 32.5 crore a day from broadcasting alone. We are no where near and BCCI will always remain ahead."

Modi has also stated that the IPL was competition for the entertainment industry, and not in direct tussle with the BCCI, which he felt would grow into the greatest, riches sports body in the world. "BCCI will also grow further at that time. BCCI is the pinnacle of cricket in the world and is performing. IPL has a long way to go."
