Mehmood Abdi, Lalit Modi's lawyer, alleged that Shashank Manohar had recused himself only after establishing it with the BCCI that Modi's replies to the three show cause notices were inadequate, "This recusal is an eyewash. After having decided that Modi's replies are not satisfactory, as being reported by a TV channel, Manohar has recused himself. And the man who is not part of the disciplinary committee and whose recusal we had demanded, secretary N Srinvasan, is the man who has referred the matter to the disciplinary committee."
Abdi, also, stated that he and his lawyer were unaware of the BCCI's statement of Modi's defense being insufficent even though it has been reported across all news media, "We have not received any such communication from the BCCI which seems to have sent it to all and sundry."
