Mohammad Yousuf was not mincing words when he announced his retirement from international cricket.

The former Pakistan captain, Mohammad Yousuf, came to the cricket field as Yousuf Youhana, then a raised Christian. While he has credited his rise in Pakistan cricket (although he was relatively successful before the conversion) to his conversion to Islam, it is not unclear whom he he blaming for taking this decision, which former Pakistan cricketers feel was harsh and made in haste. The decision comes in the aftermath of the indefinite ban from international cricket imposed by the PCB over infighting with Younis Khan.
Yousuf told the press, "This is my retirement. I have retired from international cricket. I received a letter from the PCB that my staying in the team is harmful for the team, so I announce my retirement from international cricket."
He added, "For now, this is what I can see, that my playing for Pakistan is damaging. For now, this is it, for now this is my retirement. I always played for my country and if my playing is harmful for the team then I don't want to play."
Although the phrase "for now" is being interpreted as something that leaves a bit of doubt over the permanency of his retirement, it appears that after 282 ODIs and 88 Tests, and wrangling with the PCB over sums of money to leave the ICL and not get a contract with the IPL, Yousuf has perhaps had enough.
