Mr. Botham, There is a Way to Silence Fans

Former England cricketer and all rounder has responded to Ricky Ponting's observations about raucous Barmy Army crowds. However, there is a differing view.

The Australian captain got into a verbal scuffle with one of the fans at Edgbaston, venue of the third Test of the Ashes series of 2009. However, the fact that the England fans have been more vociferous than otherwise has taken the Australian captain by surprise.

But Botham has stated that it is hard to stop the fans from getting boisterous, especially since they are enjoying the home advantage.

However, there is a way for the crowds to be silenced - by Australia putting up a good performance while England tamely succumb as they did in the first session or two of the fourth Test at Headingley.
