Writing about the occupational hazards of one's job can get one in serious trouble as one of the South African cheerleaders linked to the Mumbai Indians found out when she lost her job in the IPL 4.

The IPL cheerleaders were a new concept in cricket altogether and it would be safe to say that their induction aimed to entice crowds and add the glamour factor through foreign skin has met with mixed reactions over the years.
However, it has to be something of a culture shock for these cheerleaders who come to conservative India where suddenly they become the object of attraction and subject to some unkindly comments. But perhaps the most perennial hazard is having to deal with cricketers during the after hours, as this particular cheerleader wrote on a blog that was not to reveal her identity.
Gabriella Pasqualotto was contracted as a cheerleader for the Mumbai Indians and in describing her experiences thus far, she did not fail to mention how the cheerleaders and the cricketers were more than happy to break rules of not mingling and that quite a few cricketers were more than happy to flirt and further with the cheerleaders. She even went onto name Graeme Smith as someone who would not mind this kind of behaviour even with a girlfriend ( actually fiance, Morgan Deane ). She even mentions Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Indian captain, as someone who chooses to keep to himself rather than indulge in the after hour, free drinks for all scene.
Gabriella even went onto describe how the dance routines and the normal workouts of cheerleaders were rejigged to make it more of show of assets than about the original concept of cheerleading.
However, Gabriella was to get a rude shock herself when she was given her marching orders, which she naturally alleges are unfair given that despite specific rules, other cheerleaders indulged the cricketers in a case of mutual disregard for norms during the after hours parties, unofficial- not like the IPL parties of 2010 IPL 3.
The main reason for the sacking of the cheerleaders is not only the blowing of her cover as a secret blogger but also, because it could lead to more embarrassing revelations that the cricketers would have to deal with. And her suspect: an Australian cricketer who wanted to avoid the kind of media publicity the revelations would mean for him.
