Murali's eight-wicket haul leads SL to victory

High profile off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan's eight-wicket haul empowered Sri Lanka to register an empathetic victory over England in the third and final test at Trent Bridge. With this 134 runs victory, Sri Lanka leveled the three match series 1-1.

The hosts were bundled up in 190 in their second innings while chasing 325 runs. The second highest wicket-taker in Test cricket, Muralitharan claimed eight wickets in his 30 overs spell incurring 70 runs.

AJ Strauss was the only batsman who showed some brave fights against Murali scoring 55 runs off 115 balls with six boundaries.

Muralitharan who has been ridiculed by the Aussie audience a number of times is geared off to overtake Shane Warne, the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket with 685 wickets from 140 tests.

Achieving five-wicket haul for 53 times, Murali has now 635 wickets from 106 tests.
