Muttiah Muralitharan announced his retirement upon which the Australian captain was all praises for the wily spinner.
Ricky Ponting stated that Muralitharan was one of a kind of his generation, "Until he came on the scene I had never faced anyone that had the ability to spin the ball both ways like he does. I was lucky to play against him in one of his first Test matches ... we played a lot against each other, whether it be one-day cricket or Test cricket."
