After much tussle between the BCCI and the Sri Lankan cricket board, it was decided that the Sri Lankan cricketers involved in the IPL 4 will be in India till the 18th of May. However, Tillekeratne Dilshan wants out early.

Tillekeratne Dilshan was appointed the Sri Lankan captain for the tour of England after Kumar Sangakkara stepped down following the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 which Sri Lanka lost to India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The BCCI and the Sri Lankan cricket board were in a stand off as the Sri Lankan sports ministry reportedly wanted the Sri Lankan cricketers to return home earlier than originally planned in order to get their training in order ahead of Sri Lanka's tour of England. It took several days of concerned wait and watch from the IPL franchisees before the two boards announced a truce of sorts.

But it seems Dilshan is not one who is willing to hang around until the 18th May. Instead Dilshan has made it clear to his IPL 4 franchisee, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the Sri Lankan cricket board of his intentions to return home early, though not imposing the same on the Sri Lankan cricketers named for the tour.

Dilshan appears eager to take over the reins and in that effort, is probably wanting a more hands on role even during training rather than familiarize hime in a leadership role for the team late after some of the Sri Lankan cricketers will have already landed in England before the others involved in the team.

While this kind of eager commitment is not only expected but also, welcomed in the age of lucrative deals, it will be interesting to see if the franchisees are just as lenient with the idea. One man who will not have a problem either way is Lasith Malinga who continues to reap rich dividends for the Mumbai Indians who retained him and will continue to enjoy the Sri Lankan's services since Malinga had announced his retirement from the long format of the game.
