Nz Pak T 3 Day 4 Stumps: Lead Changes Hands to Set up Final Day of Tour

Three scores in the sixties and a captain's knock have meant that Pakistan have made light of New Zealand's lead. Now it is upto both teams to force the issue if a result in the series is to be made possible on the fifth day of the third Test in Napier.

First it was the opening partnership between Imran Farhat and Salman Butt of 129 that thwarted New Zealand from making inroads against the hosts' lead. Then Faisal Iqbal carried forward the work for the Pakistan captain, Mohammad Yousuf, to then make a valuable eighty-nine runs to keep the pressure on the hosts to create something.

En route, Umar Akmal remained unbeaten on forty-eight even as Pakistan gathered a 99 run lead with six wickets still in hand at stumps on the fourth day.

It is now upto New Zealand to produce the spell that will quell the Pakistan challenge that threatens to take this match to a draw as things stand. With both teams sharing the honours in the previous two Tests, there is still all to play for, which makes the final day the most enticing prospect of the series.
