The New Zealand cricket board is coming out in defense of Brendon McCullum after Lalit Modi accused McCullum of using Flintoff's tactics.

A day after Lalit Modi suggested that McCullum tried to weasel out of his contract with the New Zealand cricket board and turn into a free agent a la Andrew Flintoff to play out the entire season of IPL 3, the New Zealand cricket board's chief executive, Justin Vaughan, has denied any such intentions of the part of the explosive batsman cum wicket keeper.
Vaughan denied that McCullum had any intention of forgoing his contract with the New Zealand team and that there were about five New Zealand cricketers, including skipper Daniel Vettori, Jacob Oram and Ross Taylor amongst others, who waited for the itinerary to be released as the series with Australia clashed with the IPL 3 dates. As it turns out, New Zealand will be playing one Test less against their Trans Tasmanian rivals so that New Zealand cricketers will only miss the beginning of IPL 3.
