New Zealand may be feeling more optimistic than imagined despite losing their first match against Sri Lanka of the ODI series as they prepare for the fourth ODI of the ODI series at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

Sri Lanka do not have time for recovery, not from their previous loss to India that ended in rather controversial circumstances completely by design and like India, will be still recovering from the Test series that preceded the ODI series.

New Zealand captain, Ross Taylor, was not only aware of the fact but also, hoping to exploit it, "The thing in our favour more than that is that they played two games in a row, which has been tough and shows that the team which have played a couple of games in a row they usually have not won.

"I guess they will be a bit tired after the tough series against India in the Test series. I guess that is an area where we will exploit. But they are a professional team and these is their conditions. I am sure they will be ready for the fight."

Sri Lanka have been completely distracted by the controversy that has spiralled from their last match against Sri Lanka when Suraj Randiv reportedly deliberately bowled at the instruction of senior Sri Lankan cricketers. They will need to put the drama behind them and try to win to absolve themselves of their deeds.
