The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are once again having to make adjustments in Andrew Flintoff's absence.

The England all rounder, who announced his retirement from Test cricket at the end of the Ashes, is recovering from a knee surgery which also puts him out of the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa.

The ECB have, therefore, have decided to replace him with Graham Onions for the prestigious ICC event.
But the ECB have also given Flintoff a contract that will now free him from having to work under the ECB's blessings. While he will report for all Twenty20 and ODI games for England, the rest of the time will not be dictated to him but rather give him the licence to pursue his lucrative Twenty20 deals as planned and expressed by his manager a few days earlier.
