Pakistan have a daunting task ahead of them. And their downfall at Lord's has to be their only hope in the first Test of the Pakistan Australia Test series.

Pakistan led themselves down with the batting in the first innings while Australia did everything in the power to overcome any hiccups over last night's play. Now Pakistan's will to fight with the bat will say everything about a Test that has plausibly slipped out of their reach.
With cloudy, overcast conditions, Pakistan's chase in the fourth innings will only get tougher with two days to go and a cocky Australian team. However, to their credit, they fought first through the opening partnership between Salman Butt and Imran Farhatand then through Butt's fighting stance with Azhar Ali for company.
Butt was unbeaten on fifty-eight when Pakistan finished the third day on 114 for one, in a task that has to be tough knowing there is a long road ahead of them.
Earlier in the day, the Australian batting saw the tail wag to change what seemed like an even contest into a rather one sided affair. Despite Umar Gul's four wickets and Mohammad Asif's three wickets, Australia rattled up a score of 334 as Katich made yet another notable innings of eighty-three while the lower order showed the handiness of holding the bat. Tim Paine scored forty-seven runs to add to the agony of Pakistan while Ben Hilfenhaus and Doug Bollinger made a nuisance of themselves with a half century and twenty-one runs respectively, the last two wickets costing Pakistan 126 runs.
The length of batting removed any hopes Pakistan may have had after Australia were 205 runs ahead with six wickets in hand. The power was seized firmly by Australia first with Pakistan's batting collapse and then, with their batting heroics. Pakistan's redemption lay in fighting with all their might, if not try to win the match itself from what seems like an impossible position.
