South Africa set Pakistan a huge total of 451 to chase and overnight, Pakistan's best hopes lay with the Pakistan Test captain and Younis Khan at the crease.

Pakistan finished on a formidable 343 for three with Younis Khan standing like a rock between South Africa and victory with a defiant century knock of 118. Pakistan had two tall partnerships, first with Asgar Ali and then with Misbah as South Africa saw their chances slip away. A couple of catches went down as well and given Misbah and Younis' combined experience, it was getting tough for South Africa to press for a breakthrough.

Ali made sixty-three as he starred in an eighty-two run partnership for the second wicket while Misbah was unbeaten on seventy-six as the partnership with Younis yielded 186 runs that made it a well earned draw for Pakistan and toil for South Africa.
