Pakistan Announce Squad for Tour of England, Series against Australia, No Room for Younis

On the back of Pakistan's loss to India in the Asia Cup 2010, the Pakistan selectors announced the Twenty20 and Test team squad for the England tour that included the series against Australia.

The most shocking name missing from the Test squad for Pakistan who will be playing their "home" series against Australia was that former Pakistan captain, Younis Khan, who does not feature despite boasting a Test average of 50 and currently playing for Surrey in prolific form, which should have made him a natural selection. It seems strange that the board would leave someone like Younis Khan out given his experience and also, the fact that the captain, Shahid Afridi, has been openly rooting for him in the Test team while those punished earlier have had a resumption of association with Pakistan cricket.

Instead the Pakistan Cricket Board ( PCB ) have decided to include Yasir Hameed in his place. Hameed, like Afridi, is coming back to the Test squad after a hiatus when he last played in 2007 in a series against India.

Pakistan will play two Twenty20 matches and two Tests against Australia and later take on England. Shoaib Akhtar has also not found a place in the Test team although his name features in the Twenty20 squad while Danesh Kaneria, who is facing a difficult time in England over spot fixing allegations playing for Essex county, is also in the Test squad.

Pakistan's Test squad for England tour against Australia: Shahid Afridi (captain), Salman Butt (vice captain), Imran Farhat, Yasir Hameed, Azhar Ali, Umar Amin, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Zulqarnain Haider, Umar Gul, Mohammad Asif, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir, Tanveer Ahmed, Saeed Ajmal, Danish Kaneria
