Losing the first Test by forty runs in Guyana could not have been easy for Pakistan. Indeed they appeared in turmoil through the early part of the second Test at Warner Park, Basseterre, St. Kitts. However, it is commendable that Pakistan rallied back to win the second Test to draw the Pakistan West Indies Test series at 1-1.

The first innings of 272 from Pakistan on a rain affected first day was built around Azhar Ali's sixty-seven runs as also Umar Akmal's half century coupled with Tanvir Ahmed's fifty-seven runs batting at no.9. Pakistan managed to reach the total despite Ravi Rampaul and Devendra Bishoo attempting to pull things back for West Indies to leave the match open.

West Indies batsmen got starts but were never allowed to run wild. With the spinners, Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeez bretahign down their necks with three wickest apiece, West Indies managed a score of 223 on the back of Marlon Samuel's fifty-seven runs and thirty-three desperate runs from Ravi Rampaul albeit in vain.

However, it was in the second innings that Pakistan pulled away from the hosts and not only redeemed themselves but also, ended the series on a more respectable note. Leading the way was opening batsman Taufeeq Umar who made his Test century, 132 runs to be precise, to ensure that this time West Indies knew they would be be lucky to get Pakistan out cheaply. Test century for the Pakistan captain, Misbah ul Haq, put the target beyond West Indies' reach as the hosts were staring at a target of 427 runs to win the series in a whitewash.

Darren Bravo kept it intreresting with a half century despite the early loss of opener Kraigg Braithwaite. But the resistance was bound to break and it did with West Indies reduced to four down for seventy-seven, Ramnaresh Sarwan out ofr a duck as well. Brendon Nash and Wets Indies captain, Darren Sammy, tried to battle it out although the inevitable lulled.

Abdur Rehman was working in his way into the West Indies line up with four wickets while Saeed Ajmal was consistent in his three wickets in each innings to leave West Indies high and dry on the fifth day, bowled out for 230, and losing the second Test by 196 runs.
