The ICC President is talking one thing right in the direction of cricket, knowing how important rivalry is to the sport.

Sharad Pawar has reiterated that the ICC is interested in the resumption of cricket ties between India and Pakistan. His contention is that if the resumption of play of the field will help reduce political tensions, he would like to see the two nations spar on the cricket field.
Pawar, however, stated that the respective governments had to give the necessary go ahead for that to happen. India refused to tour Pakistan following the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai where the Pakistani hand was established.
Pawar is too shrewd an administrator not to know what cricket between the two countries could do for the sport, as was evident in their clash in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2010 in Sri Lanka which India eventually won.
While officials in the Pakistan government are unofficially stating that talks are on, the officials in the Indian government are denying any knowledge of a resumption of talks, let alone cricketing ties.
