PCB's Legal Theat Withdrawn After ICC Threaten to Withdraw Compensation

In a bizarre twist, there are now reports that Pakistan withdrew its threat to take legal action against the ICC after the ICC threatened to strip its hosting rights.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had threatened to take the ICC to court over shifting the matches meant for Pakistan in the 2011 World Cup to India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Pakistan had even put forth proposals to add a neutral venue to represent Pakistan or even switch the two World Cups, the 2011 edition with the next that would feature Australia-New Zealand as hosts.

Amongst the many demands made, Pakistan, in order to settle for an out of court settlement, wanted the ICC to promise that India would play a series against Pakistan after the series was cancelled due to the terror attacks in Mumbai.

It has now emerged that the threat to take the ICC to court was made in haste but that the ICC countered the move with a threat of its own with David Morgan, the ICC president, threatening to strip Pakistan of the hosting agreement and deprive them of the twenty million dollars or so that Pakistan would earn as co hosts to the event.
