Pietersen: On A Wounded Mission

--> -->

Until recently the injury most being nursed by the former England captain was his grieving heart after losing the captaincy. But now Kevin Pietersen has a physical problem and he will simply have to grin and bear through it.

Kevin Pietersen was diagnosed as suffering from an Achilles tendon problem that forced him to sit out of the ICC World Twenty20 match against the Netherlands who went on to shock the home team. However, Pietersen was blooded in in the second game against Pakistan where he scored a valuable half century.

However, Pietersen has not recovered from his injury. The tendon problem appears to stem from a back problem he is suffering and while a few months’ rest would have normally solved the problem, England cannot do without Pietersen services, especially with Andrew Flintoff yet again on an injury time out, and with the Ashes coming up shortly, a few painkiller injections will have to take care of Pietersen’s back.
