The Australian captain has been bought of the Kolkata Knight Riders after a well planned strategy that perhaps included Kieron Pollard of the West Indies.

The KKR lost their bid for Pollard as the Mumbai Indians picked up the West Indian. But they were hoping to snag other players by letting go of Ricky Ponting who they felt could not contribute much because he would have been available for only a few matches.
KKR decided, therefore, to buy out Ponting, who was unavailable for the IPL 2 season in South Africa. And it was perhaps another wise decision in the troubled camp from 2009 with Sourav Ganguly once again being made captain of the Shah Rukh Khan owned team and it would be safe to say that the Australian captain and the former Indian captain, while they are professionals, have not been the best of mates in the dressing room
