The late South African captain, Hansie Cronje, was apparently not the only cricketer to put a stump through the door in frustration. The Australian captain was an annoyed man at Edgbaston, Birmingham and another door bore the brunt of it.

Ponting lost his wicket in the second innings of the third Test of the Ashes at Edgbaston to a rank turner from England spinner, Graeme Swann. Adding to it, was the boisterous crowd that greeted Ponting upon his arrival and his dismissal.
Ponting reported shattered a dressing room door in disgust even as Michael Clarke went onto score the match saving century.
