It is funny how when the shoe is on the other foot, how it blurs reality. The Australian captain, Ricky Ponting, has made a few statements in the aftermath of Australia's defeat at the hands of England in the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 final that leave room for introspection.

In Ponting's opinion, Australia were "the best team of the tournament" and that the one loss made them lose the opportunity to win the trophy. England may have a few objections because as well as Australia have fought back, they were not the team with the most comprehensive wins, getting out of jail on several occasions, partly owning to their own captain's form.
Ponting also backed Michael Clarke to continue as captain despite the latter's form and denied that he himself had any reason to revoke his decision.
Ponting also felt that a best of three finals would be in the best interests because in his opinion, Australia lost the tournament based on one performance. Well, it is hard to see a comprehensive Australian performance, other than against the Indians and the West Indies, whereas England have been the team to beat and England did not succeed.
