While Shah Rukh Khan battles to win over the fans for the Kolkata Knight Riders, Preity Zinta is losing her cool that instead of being talked about the success of her IPL team, Kings XI Punjab, she has been barraged about questions about former KXIP players, Yuvraj Singh and Brett Lee.

The Bollywood actress is a passionate backer of her team, seen at all venues in the dug out, lending herself hoarse and being supportive even when the Kings XI Punjab have not had the kind of success one would have hoped. The Kings XI Punjab went through more ordeals off the field as a court order helped them reverse termination by the BCCI but has left them poorer for it.
Preity Zinta was elated after her team beat the reigning champions, Chennai Super Kings, but was more furious than exasperated that questions in the media continued to swirl around his alleged link ups with Yuvraj Singh and Australian fast bowler, Brett Lee.
Yuvraj Singh was the KXIP captain before he was replaced by Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara. But Preity Zinta's respect for Yuvraj Singh was evident even beyond the time. There were reports in the media despite the hugs that she freely gave around to her team in the first three years that Yuvraj had been playing truant with the team and deliberately underperforming to want a way out. Yuvraj Singh himself struggled to shut out those rumours even though by then injuries had taken a toll on him as also his image as one of the Indian cricketers.
Now with Yuvraj Singh flying high following the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, Preity has been asked several times when Yuvraj is no longer the make up of the team. The IPL teams were allowed to retain upto four players and people continued to wonder, despite the later court order, of why Yuvraj Singh and Brett Lee, another key component in the KXIP plan, were let go.
Preity once more took pains to explain that since the Court order regarding the KXIP participation in the IPL 4 came late, the KXIP management had little time to file for player retention with the BCCI. To compound matters, the bank guarantee and that Kings XI Punjab and the Rajasthan Royals had to pay in lieu had taken a toll on the KXIP team purse for the IPL 4 auctions.
Although the KXIP played a strange hand at the auctions, reserving their money till the very end for Indian cricketers outside of the auction, Preity felt that they had made a good bid for Yuvraj Singh although the Pune Warriors and the Sahara Group came out triumphant, eventually making Yuvraj Singh the Pune Warriors captain.
In the midst of it all, Preity Zinta broke up with her boyfriend of several years, Ness Wadia, who is also the Bombay Dyeing scion and co owner in the Kings XI Punjab. With the reason behind the split hidden from the public eye, it has allowed for a field day for conspiracy theories including the suggestion that Preity's proximity to Yuvraj, with photos splashed as he hugged him and the members of his team, had been a factor in the split.
After staying away from the country, Preity Zinta is back on the small screen hosting the Guinness World Records show, she is also getting increasingly frustrated at having to answer questions to which she presumes the answers are fairly simple.
