There was a time when a popular sports channel also brought in an astrologer to predict whether a cricketer would do well, only for a gaming show. Later the trend travelled awhile onto another channel where cricket took a backseat and entertainment preceded it. For getting it right, there are pitfalls as well.

There is a reason why astrologers never want to predict the outcome of a match with absolute certainty. They always leave a card hanging by saying the chances look good or by naming a couple of key players.
Like the job of the weatherman, the astrologers have often faced the brunt when they have dared to tell what they knew if it angered fans and they feared for their lives when predictions went wrong.
The case seems similar to the cause of Psychic Paul who is, mind you, an octupus, no less but no more. He has captured attention during the FIFA World Cup 2010 that can only be rivalled by the football on the field.
However, while Psychic Paul has been Germany's friend thus far, although his place of birth is apparently England, his prediction that Germany would fall to Spain in the semi final sent shudders. It is hard to imagine if he managed to psyche the German players as well, who were missing their play maker, Thomas Mueller, but the prediction has been damaging.

If the Argentinian fans were angry earlier - (wanting to literally bite his head off!), the Germans do not know whether to marvel at his feat or be angry with his predictions. Some have even gone to the extent of blaming him for Germany's semi final halt, saying he not only predicted but caused it to happen!
Astrology though cannot hide the same way sports pundits can (even though there is reasonable loss of face either way) because they are supposed to see into the future while the latter can only draw inferences based on the past.
Sports and astrology - still unexplored but a contentious relationship nonetheless!
