The Bengal Tiger on the verge of retirement is travelling down the memory lane. There are are many ups and downs. He has gone through so much, being thrown out of the team but he managed a comeback and will be going out blazing a trail.

As a captain he always wanted the best for his team, in this case the best being taking Greg Chappell as the team coach. As per Sourav he had discussed his batting with Chappell a couple of times and he was very helpful. So when the choice of coaches was in between Tom Moody and Chappell he pushed for the latter and was stuck with him , a decision which cost him dear in future.
The infamous email-gate was a real turnoff. The deliberate and underhand way in which a private yet very public email by Chappell was leaked to media was very hurting to say the least. As per Ganguly he found it very upsetting. It was strange that since Greg and himself were not so close, and had not spent much time together as a team, still Greg formed such strong opinion about him.

Sourav is convinced that some outsiders poisoned Chappell's mind against him. He is also convinced that if the old selection team was still there he would not be in the situation he finds himself in.He would also had thought differently about his retirement from one -dayers. The differences blew out of proportion leading to Sourav's ouster from the Captaincy and then from the team itself. It is another matter that Ganguly managed to claw back overcoming all hurdles with his tenacity.
Sourav has undergone so much that it is heartening to see him get a second chance so as to bid adieu to cricket in a proper manner.
