Brett Lee may be stepping closer to Test retirement as of Friday or so goes the rumour.

A leading newspaper in Australia claims to have on good authority that the Australian fast bowler is all set to announce his retirement from Test cricket following his painful recuperation from elbow surgery.
Bitterly disappointed after being overlooked for the final part of the Ashes series in England as a side strain put paid to him in the early part of the traditional series, Lee has been struggling to make it back on the Test circuit for nearly one and a half years.
While Preity Zinta had expressed confidence in Lee's presence in the IPL 3 for the Kings XI Punjab, Lee's words have been far from comforting. Things have failed to come together since his marital troubles with now ex-wife Liz Kemp and it has translated into Lee being a less than regular feature of the Australian team.
Just when he was looking like he was raring to go in the 2009 Champions League Twenty20 for the New South Wales, injury once again came in the way to rule him out of the ODI series in India.
Now he could well be down the same road as Andrew Symonds and Andrew Flintoff, who have now happily resigned themselves to the life of a freelance cricketer, concentrating on Twenty20 as their primary bread and butter.
