Rahul Dravid has received a word of appreciation from Ravi Shastri who compared him to former Australian cricket legend Steve Waugh and says that Indian captain will become even better in the years to come.
The former India Skipper quoted,
I see a lot of Steve Waugh in Dravid now. Steve was very much a backroom boy when Allan Border or Mark Taylor was the captain. Once he became the captain, he announced himself in every way.
Like Waugh, Rahul Dravid adjusts himself with the situation. He quickly undergoes a metamorphosis from being a leader of conviction.
Shastri further said,
Much like Waugh, Dravid will prove to be a tough nut to crack. You can see that in the scores that are coming from him.
Rahul Dravid has improved in his batting ever since he took the captaincy of Indian cricket team. He is ever ready to bat at any position for the team’s victory, Shastri added.

There is a lot of GAP between the two greats , in my opinion . May be Rahul is a terrific batsman , but as a leader his body language is far from desired , It takes exceptional leadership skills to be a Waugh , so lets not make the mistake of comparing Waugh with Rahul , both are wonderful batsman , but leader Steve stands heads and shoulders above Rahul .

In fact, it would be too early to compare Rahul Dravid with Waugh. However, the way Dravid manages the team, it is not a distant dream for India to find a Austrailan Waugh in Indian Cricket. After all, it’s a matter of time only.
I think its a justified comparison. Although Steve Waugh isnt as great a batsman as Rahul Dravid , and one should not forget the yteam Steve Waugh had. He led a team of Champions whereas Dravid is leading a team of country blokes.
