The Royal Challengers Bangalore are changing colours midway through the IPL 4 season and no, it has nothing to do with superstition but as part of the environment conscious Green Initiative concept.

The Bangalore based Royal Challengers team will sport specially designed green jerseys as opposed to the customary red to raise awareness about the issues involving the environment.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore's match versus the Kochi Tuskers Kerala match should see the RCB team in green as they will fight both, Kochi and the environmental concerns by raising awareness through their fans and through the interest in cricket and specifically the IPL.

This will be one of the few times when cricket has actually handled another burning issue besides merely furthering the commercialization of the sport. And it is interesting that the RCB is the team taking the first step towards becoming the first carbon neutral cricket team as they support the UN's World Environment Day coming up on the 5th of June.

The RCB intend to raise fund for the Green Initiative as the green jerseys will be signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore players and then auctioned off. All for a good cause!
