Rewind IPL 2 2009: Modi Refuses to Deal with Players Association over Security Concerns

Once again it is likely revisiting the past.

The foreign cricketers, especially those from Australia and New Zealand, have raised concerns over security after hiring a private consultant for a second year in a row. And Lalit Modi is sticking to the stand he did twelve months ago!

The IPL Chairman and Commissioner refused to address the concerns of the players bodies on a legality that the they were not recognized and that the IPL only dealt with the respective boards.

While the private consultant had suggested the possibility of terrorist attacks during the IPL 3, Modi is not willing to share the security secrets which has annoyed the players.

Last year, despite the assurances, there was a significant lobby of cricketers who were not willing to risk playing in the IPL 2 while the country went to the general elections for the Lok Sabha. Eventually IPL 2 moved to South Africa.
