The Australian captain is not ready to write off his team's chances ahead of the Ashes 2010 down under and he certainly sees hope in the way the England team is batting.

Ricky Ponting feels Australia have a good chance of actually winning the Ashes down under 5-0 despite the fact that they lost the Ashes 2009 in England. And his theory is supported further by the fact that he feels England have been exposed with a soft underbelly in their batting.
Ponting feels encouraged by what he has seen in the England Pakistan Test series where most of the top order batsmen including the England captain, Andrew Strauss, have struggled for consistency. The axe was hanging over Alastair Cook before he scored a century in the third Test. Kevin Pietersen's silence with the bat has been worrying everyone concerned and Paul Collingwood has gone underground as far as the scorecard is concerned. Ponting also knows he has a new face to target because Eoin Morgan seems to be the preferred choice in the England camp at the moment, plausibly denying Ian Bell a chance.
