Sinister rumours exist in abundance. It was once again proved right when some sections of the South African circles are circulating rumours of Graeme Smith sabotaging Hashim Amla. Even in defeat, someone has something to grind!

The timing of the South African captain's declaration in the first Test in Nagpur has apparently become a reason of dispute for some sinister motives. Even though South Africa won the match handsomely, it has sown seeds in the minds of those who see more to the resignation of Mickey Arthur as South Africa's coach and the dismissal of the selection panel.

Many are attributing Smith's declaration when Hashim Amla was batting on an unbeaten 253 as a way of not allowing Amla to go past his own personal record of 277. While it seems preposterous, the ones circulating these rumours are those that are also disseminating that Amla has been tipped to take over as the South African captain. There is a little too much reading into it with the quota system and racial discrimination developing an uncomfortable passenger on the road of turmoil prior to the India South Africa series.
